Coming Soon, The Sony Ericsson Aino!

Written on 8:14 AM by Annush

Sony Ericsson recently announced the launch of three brand spankingly new handsets. Each one with its own functionality and purpose. The Aino; 8.1 megapixel camera and remote access to your PS3! The Satio; 12.1 megapixels of camera magic and last but by no means least the Yari, the “gaming-centric” handset with motion controls.

Today however I’m just going to fill you in on the Sony Ericsson Aino. The Aino features both a 3-inch touchscreen and a slide-out keypad giving you the best of both worlds through either its keypad or its intuitive touch UI in media mode. With a focus on multimedia capabilities, the Aino lets you connect with your PS3 remotely! Remote Play with Playstation 3, initially developed for PSP, enables users to control and access media content on Playstation 3 from their phone. This can be done via a local network between Playstation 3 and Aino in your home or via the internet from anywhere in the world. For TV lovers in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the UK you can also enjoy the PlayTV™ service on Playstation 3 via the Aino. Watch, pause and record live TV from a huge range of free channels via Aino on the go.

As well as TV you can also watch movies on a crystal clear 3 inch screen and listen to music in superb quality and with increased freedom - thanks to the stylish Wireless Stereo Headphone MH100 and matching Charging Stand EC100 designed to match the Aino’s stylish looks. The Aino also boasts an 8.1-megapixel camera which is quite impressive considering it isn’t on its list of top priorities.

The Aino also introduces Media Home, an application that pulls media content from Media Go™ on your PC over Wi-Fi™ to your phone automatically. Users just insert their Aino into its charging stand and it automatically synchronizes with all the latest media content on their PC so you are always ready to go with the latest content on your phone. Sony Ericsson would like to remind us that “No more wires, no more searching – always the latest fun”.

Overall the Sony Ericsson Aino looks set to be a good addition to the already busy summer though the question that springs to mind is, do the existence of the Aino and the Yari finally put those PSP phone rumours to bed? With Sony recently unveiling the new PSP Go at this years E3 it certainly seems that way. This will come as disappointing news to some as the much rumoured PSP phone had always seemed like the perfect marriage of one of Sony’s top brands. Having worked so well with the Cyber-shot and Walkman phones, it certainly would have been interesting to see what could have come from Sony Ericsson.

Still, with an excellent camera and more than enough going for it in the media department. Pencilled in for a Q4 launch id say we could expect to see it on the shelves around October.
